Advanced Technology and Quality Building
Construction Equals Award-Winning
Energy-Efficient Homes
ASTORIA
HOMES
recently received the 2007 ENERGY
STAR® Sustained Excellence Award
from the Environmental Protection
Agency in recognition of continued
leadership in protecting our environment
through energy efficiency. As the
only homebuilder to receive the prestigious
Sustained Excellence Award in Las
Vegas this year, ASTORIA
HOMES
continues its reign as leader in energy-efficient
homebuildering as one of only 80 businesses
and organizations from the 9,000 participating
partners in the country to receive
the honor.
ASTORIA
HOMES
joins the ranks of such nationally
recognized companies as The Home Depot®,
PepsiCo®, McDonalds®,
Lowe's®, Toyota®,
Food Lion®, Ford Motor
Company®, Marriot International,
Inc.® and 3M®.
"These ENERGY STAR
award winners are helping spread the
word, that getting the most out of
our energy dollars just makes sense,"
said EPA Administrator Stephen L.
Johnson. "President Bush and
the EPA are improving the nation's
energy and environmental outlook,
providing the next generation a brighter,
healthier future."
Making it an even more
impressive achievement, ASTORIA
HOMES
is the only builder in Las Vegas this
year to accomplish the feat and only
one of four homebuilders in the entire
nation to receive the award. ASTORIA
HOMES
was also named ENERGY STAR Partner
of the Year in 2003, 2005 and 2006.
"The Sustained
Excellence Award is an honor that
is growing in significance each year
as the ENERGY STAR program continues
to expand into more and more markets
nationally," said Tom McCormick,
president of ASTORIA
HOMES.
"We are proud of the fact that
ASTORIA
HOMES
represents the top one percent of
ENERGY STAR partners, thus making
our Las Vegas-based company national
leaders in energy efficient building."
While the leading Southern
Nevada-based homebuilder has been
a faithful follower of the EPA-backed
program for more than six years, ASTORIA
HOMES
believes so fully in the importance
of energy-efficient construction,
it continually researches ways to
improve on its building practices.
"It should be said
that the ENERGY STAR program, while
a highly successful and much-needed
initiative since its debut, is still
a voluntary program, said McCormick."
"We believe so wholeheartedly
in its philosophy and the benefits
it affords the environment and our
homeowners that, not only are we proud
members of the program, we have taken
our efforts a step furter—what
more can we do, what additional technology
can we implement, to make our homes
save more energy?"
"While ENERGY STAR
requires one out of seven homes be
inspected, ASTORIA
HOMES
demands that 100 percent of all homes
built undergo inspection and verification,"
said McCormick. "This ensures
the high standard of quality that
is promised to our homebuyers."
