Principal moves to Aliante

Tammy Malich has worked as a principal at schools in the north valley for the past seven years. She said she has kept an eye on the Aliante master-planned community's development.

When she and her husband, Mike, decided to move their family of four to a location farther north of their former neighbrhood, the community was one of the first places they considered.

"We had a custom-home built 15 years ago south of Blue Diamond Road, but because we both work in the north valley we wanted to move closer to the area," Tammy said. "We were interested in a master-planned community because of the amenities it provides. I think just the whole concept of a master-planned community appealed to us: Having the community feeling; having a place for Colton to be able to go out on the walking trail, to ride his scooter and have friends living nearby; and having shopping and restaurants so close to home."

After touring the neighborhoods within the master plan, the family chose an ASTORIA home in Aliante's Prominence neighborhood.

Their home design is the Residence 228. The five-bedroom, 3½-bath home offers a separate mini-suite and outside studio.

"We were impressed with ASTORIA right off the bat," Tammy said. "With Nicole being older but not out of the house entirely, this allows her to have a little privacy; and Mike and I wanted to have the studio set up as an office."

While their son Colton makes use of the community's trail system on his scooter, Mike frequently golfs at the Aliante Golf Club.

Aliante is a development of North Valley Enterprises LLC, an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb. The community encompasses more than 1,900 acres and will house as many as 7,500 homes, with an anticipated population of about 20,000.

Proposed plans for the community include two elementary schools and a middle school, all of which would be built by the Clark County School District.

The community's first school, the Theron H. and Naomi D. Goynes Elementary School, opened in August 2005. The community's fire station was opened in April 2004 and the Aliante Library, located adjacent to the Nature Discovery Park, opened in May 2006.

About 100 acres are allocated for commercial development to include 60 acres of neighborhood shopping centers and office parks, and a planned, 40-acre resort gaming hotel, adjacent to Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway.

Information regarding new homes and neighborhoods in Aliante can be obtained at the Aliante Information Gallery.

To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 north to the Beltway and exit east at Aliante Parkway and proceed south. The sales offices are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. For more information, call 866-787-2951 or visit www.aliantehomes.com.
