Astoria Homes Goes "Red for Women" to Benefit AHA

Astoria Homes has taken a worthwhile cause to heart. The Southern Nevada-based homebuilder partnered with the American Heart Association (AHA) for its second annual "Go Red for Women" sponsorhip campaign.

"The American Heart Association is delighted by the enthusiasm exhibited by Astoria Homes employees for the 'Go Red for Women' campaign," says Debbie Estes, R.N., BSN, outreasch coordinator for Sunrise Hospital and a long-time volunteer for AHA. "We want Astoria Homes to set the example for other Las Vegas companies."

With results gathered from April 28 to May 27, Astoria Homes and its sister companies JTLM, Inc. and Joesl Laub & Associates, donated $5 for each pound of weight staff members lost during the 30-day period. Participants lost a combined total 404.9 pounds for a final donation of $6,073.50 that went towards much needed research and education for the prevention of heart disease amoung Americans. Sixty-six employees joined the campaign and received presentations by Estes, a personal trainer and a board-certified nutritionist.
