First-Time
Buyer Finds Independence
Patrick Kokora
learned about the
home-buying process
when he visited Independence,
an Astoria Homes
neighborhood in the
southwestern valley.
Kokora,
a casino worker,
said it was the first
subdivision he visited,
and he knew immediately
that it was where
he would live.
“This
neighborhood has
a real community
feel to it,” Kokora
said. “I knew
I didn’t want
to look any further
after seeing it.
Astoria Homes has
given American flags
to homeowners for
their houses, the
neighbors are friendly,
and the amenities
are great.”
The
first-time home buyer
chose a three-bedroom,
2 1/2 bath floor
plan with a courtyard.
In addition, all
homes in Independence
have earned the Energy
Star label, which
ensures they are
at least 30 percent
more efficient that
homes built to the
Model Energy Code.
The certification
also means a savings
on energy costs.
The
homes also feature
the builder's "100
Percent Home Packages," which
include refrigerators,
washers and dryers,
miniblinds, landscaped
yards, and a 2-10
Home Buyer's Warranty.
"Moving
to Las Vegas was
the greatest thing
for me," said
Kokora, a native
of Colorado. "I'm
enjoying this city
and am proud of the
fact that I have
bought my first house,
and it's a quality
one."
Resident
amenities include
two parks, playgrounds,
covered picnic tables,
swimming pools with
cabanas, and lawn
areas.
Homes
measure from 1,238
to 1,407 square feet
and are priced from
$141,950 to $154,950.
Independence
is one of the builder's "Triumph
Neighborhoods," which
are geared toward
first-time buyers.
To
visit the neighborhood
while construction
takes place nearby,
take Interstate 215
to Durango Drive,
go south to Arby
Avenue and turn right.
Turn left on El Capitan
Way then right on
Warm Springs Road.
The sales office
is open from 10 a.m.
to 6 p.m. daily except
Friday, when it opens
at noon.
