ASTORIA HOMES HONORED
WITH PROCLAMATION FROM
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
The Clark County Board of Commissioners awarded Astoria Homes and its President
Tom McCormick with a proclamation on March 19th for the homebuilder's sponsorship
of the "2001 Summer Business Institute Program." Astoria Homes
was one of more than a dozen local businesses recognized at the Clark County
Government Center for their contributions toward the youth program.
Astoria Homes was chosen
to receive the proclamation for its support
of the program, which aims to motivate and
encourage youths to continue higher education
and pursue entrepreneurship, as well as provide
them with experience and exposure to their
career fields of interest. The program, targeted
toward low-income and at-risk youth, is a
collaborative effort of the Clark County
Business Development Division, Clark County
School District and the private sector.
Through Astoria Homes, McCormick
donated $2,000, the cost to provide a scholarship
for one community youth to participate in
the Summer Business Institute Program. The
donation covered costs for materials, workshops,
transportation, field trips, and other program
activities for an underprivileged youth in
the Las Vegas valley.
"We are proud to participate
in community efforts that enhance the lives
of our area youths," said Astoria Homes
Marketing Director Sia Howe.
