ASTORIA HOMES HONORED
WITH NATIONAL AWARD FOR SUPPORT OF ENVIRONMENTAL
PROTECTION AGENCY'S "ENERGY STAR" PROGRAM
Sia Howe, director of marketing
for Astoria Homes, announced today that the
local homebuilder has earned an ENERGY STAR® Achievement
Award for building 150 ENERGY STAR labeled
homes during 2001.
Las Vegas based Astoria
Homes was among only 18 homebuilder's nationwide
recognized in the category of mid-sized builders.
The award is being presented the first week
of March.
"We are very honored
to receive the ENERGY STAR award and to continue
implementing the program in our communities," said
Howe. "Astoria Homes always embarks
on top-notch efforts to benefit our homebuyers."
ENERGY STAR is a voluntary
program managed by the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency that helps to promote energy-efficient
products and practices among consumers. Homes
that have earned the program's label incorporate
construction and design features that allow
a home to use 30% less energy for heating,
cooling, and water heating than a standard
home.
Among the Astoria communities
utilizing ENERGY STAR are: Canyon Trails
and Auburn Hills at Rhodes Ranch; Stonegate
Encore and Silverado Place in Silverado Ranch;
Ironwood in Centennial Hills; and Villa Villagio
in Seven Hills. Astoria's other communities
include: Parkside Village and Silverado Lane.
