Astoria Donates to Opportunity
Village
Las Vegas based Astoria Homes
is bringing some added magic to this year's
Magical Forest by Opportunity Village.
The homebuilder has donated
a cottage home for one of the Magical Forest
characters, Miss Jingles the Squirrel. Astoria
has also coordinated employee volunteer teams
for two nights of the event.
This year marks the tenth anniversary
for the Opportunity Village fundraising event,
which will run from November 22nd through
December 29th. To celebrate the anniversary,
the Magical Forest will welcome new characters,
such as Miss Jingles, to the popular affair.
Astoria Homes' donation will help introduce
the new characters.
Since 1954, Opportunity Village
has provided vocational training, jobs and
advocacy to people with mental retardation.
The Magical Forest is Opportunity Village's
largest fund raising event, hosting nearly
200,000 people from Las Vegas and throughout
the world. All proceeds are used to fund
social and vocational programs for the disabled
in Nevada.
The majority of the Astoria
Homes communities feature "Energy Star," an
EPA-approved system of ensuring that homes
are energy efficient. By using the "Energy
Star" program, homeowners save valuable
energy and also lower the cost of heating
and cooling their homes.
